DESCRIZIONE
Heinrich Andreas Contius originario di Halle, nella Germania centrale, fu il principale costruttore di organi nelle terre baltiche durante la seconda metà del Diciottesimo secolo e il suo lavoro fu particolarmente apprezzato da Bach. Nessuno dei suoi strumenti è sopravvissuto nel suo stato originale, ma a partire dal 2012 il belga Joris Potvlieghe e l’olandese Flentrop Orgelbouw hanno iniziato una ricostruzione esatta dell’organo Liepāja di Contius grazie alla Fondazione Contius. I restauratori hanno usato materiali e tecniche che lo stesso Contius avrebbe impiegato. Il progetto è unico, poiché nessun altro strumento di Contius è stato ancora ricostruito in modo così meticoloso. L’organo è caratterizzato da un attacco più dolce ed elegante risultando un po’ più rotondo e lieve di quello dei precedenti strumenti di Gottfried Silbermann ed è quindi adatto alle raffinatezze dello stile Galante. Questa è la prima registrazione a usare una replica dell’organo Contius Liepāja della Sint-Michiel Vredeskerk di Lovanio.
