DESCRIZIONE

Semele è un capolavoro. Come chiamare altrimenti un dramma la cui perfetta comunione di testo e musica produce un tale potere di suggestione? «Tenere lo spirito, le orecchie e gli occhi in un uguale incanto» è la raccomandazione di Jean de La Bruyère (I Caratteri: Le opere dello spirito) che si riferiva alle macchine sceniche così adorate dal pubblico nell’epoca barocca. Ma anche senza macchinari né scenografie, l’oratorio di Handel ci coinvolge con assoluta efficacia nel tragico destino della sua eroina.
