DESCRIZIONE
La Sonata n. 4 in la minore (D. 537) è stata composta da Schubert nel 1817 ed è un’opera apertamente romantica. Mentre i movimenti esterni sono caratterizzati da un andamento drammatico, il movimento lento centrale presenta una lunga e incantevole melodia, delicata, quasi fragile. Undici anni dopo, nel 1828, Schubert tornò su questa melodia usandola come tema per l’ultimo movimento della sua penultima sonata, la Sonata n. 19 in la maggiore (D. 959). Questo Allegretto è forse il più “schubertiano” di tutti: generoso, grazioso, pieno di speranza nonostante una malinconia pesante.
