La tentazione, la proibizione, il bene, il male… «qual è la loro rilevanza nel mondo di oggi? » si chiede il baritono Benjamin Appl che con il pianista James Baillieu ci trasporta in un’odissea musicale che va dalle canzoni d’ispirazione popolare ai grandi maestri del repertorio liederistico quali Schubert, Schumann e Wolf, passando per gli impressionisti Debussy e Poulenc, senza tralasciare l’esplorazione della “nuova oggettività” con Weill e Eisler… La metafora del frutto proibito offre ai due artisti una vasta gamma di possibili interpretazioni. Mentre alcuni brani sono incentrati sulla sensualità, altri trattano tabù come l’incesto o argomenti sensibili come l’aborto.
